Workshops and Assemblies

EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH: Peter and Mary Danzig are both passionate educators and present a variety of engaging workshops and programs for children and adults. They both maintain private studios of students and have taught music in public and private schools. Peter is currently an instructor for Banjo and Songwriting for the University of Utah. He also spent several years working for the Utah Opera Company as a composer in residence for their educational outreach program where he traveled to schools to lead students in composing songs and musicals. Mary is a skilled teacher who has taught numerous workshops on traditional instruments, singing, and group instrument instruction.
Workshops include but are not limited to the subjects listed below. If you have a specific need not mentioned in this list it is likely we can design something to fit your needs.
INSTRUMENTAL: Not only are Peter and Mary award winning instrumentalists (2nd Place 2011 National Mandolin Championship, 2011/2012 Utah State Fiddle, Mandolin, and Banjo Champions) but they are also passionate about inspiring the next generation of players. Their classical training combined with their in depth knowledge of traditional American instruments and music allow them to offer a wide variety of educational workshops and presentations. Instructional workshops can be offered at any level on violin/viola, guitar (fingerstyle and flatpick), mandolin, banjo, and Appalachian dulcimer.
SONGWRITING/ARRANGING: Otter Creek is known for their innovative and exciting arrangements of both their traditional and original music. In addition, Peter is an award winning Songwriter (Winner: 2010 NewSongs Showcase, Walnut Valley Festival; Winner: 2011 Suzanne Millsaps Performing Songwriter Showcase) and has years of experience helping children and adults create their own songs.
SCHOOLS: (Assemblies and Workshops) With experience gained from their years in public and private education as well as Peter’s experience as a child and adolescent therapist, Otter Creek is adept and engaging students of all ages.
IMPROVISATION, JAMMING, & PERFORMANCE: Otter Creek teaches workshops for students of all levels on improvisation and jamming skills and can include your choir (and possibly instrumental ensemble) in their performance while they are in town if it can be arranged.
